The Fraunhofer Personnel Certification Authority at Fraunhofer FIT certifies qualifications in the field of Fibre Reinforced Plastics.
The certification program "Fibre Reinforced Plastics" covers all areas of fibre reinforced plastics processing. The specification "fibre reinforced" includes the differentiation from pure plastics processing, because in the production of fibre reinforced composites, fibres of carbon, glass or other materials are embedded in a resin matrix, i.e. a plastic. The advantage here is that, depending on the requirements of the component to be manufactured, the fibres can be laid on top of each other in several layers with different orientations. In this way, components are produced which have an enormously high tensile strength at low weight and are lightweight and adaptable to the respective application. The certification program deals with the production and repair of such fibre reinforced plastics. Other types of reinforced plastics are also covered, but primarily in contrast to fibre reinforced plastics. The program does not cover the production and repair of conventional non-reinforced plastics, which consist of only one component, namely the plastic, and not of several elements of different material classes.
Personnel certification in the field of fibre reinforced plastics is based on the certification profiles
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Manufacturer
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Remanufacturer
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Specialist
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Engineer (Short form: Composite Engineer)
These certification profiles correspond to three organizational levels:
Operational level:
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Manufacturer
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Remanufacturer
Supervisory level:
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Specialist
Management level:
- Fibre Reinforced Plastics Engineer / Composite Engineer
